Final Renders

After a long time of work I am finally completed with the work for the Peace One Day PSA. In this version of the PSA, I focused my efforts on the previously commented improvements (on the last post). These included changing the look of the Mushroom cloud, making the overall colors of the piece more consistent, making the first scene a little brighter than before and some other additional tweaks which I came up with myself.

These include animating the fish in C4D instead of using AfterEffects, animating the bird to my liking and fixing the geometry on the earth object which the blood drips on to.

Overall I learned a lot out of this project, I could say that this is the first project in which I modeled, light, textured and rendered everything in 3D. It was not easy or straight forward but I found my ways around the problems and I am happy with what i was able to achieve out of C4D.

I do think that the animation and the look of it can be pushed a little more. So I will go over it over the summer to fix up these problems which I think is necessary. Until then, Hope you enjoy my animation:

First Pass

We just delivered the first pass of the PSA today. I had somewhat a rough first pass for class. But showing this rough pass helped me get some very useful information about the PSA which I didn't see before. One of the main concerns which I had was the fact that the camera movement was not a single continuos movement. One of the reasons for the continuos movement is because of the fact that I am animating some elements in C4D and some in AfterEffects. So what i hope to so is to bring the elements which I animated in AfterEffects in to C4D and place it accordingly in the C4D scene.

Some other comments which I were:

  1. The mushroom cloud does not look like a mushroom cloud.
  2. The opening scene could use a little more of color because the way I have it right now, the opening scene is very dull.
  3. The breaking of the glass of the hour glass can be slowed down.
  4. Leveling the overall color in the animation since it jumps a lot.
  5. The ending was very well done but goes towards different style. May be unify the style within the animation to make it more coherent.
I intend on fixing all of the problems which my instructor highlight. I will be posting some updates on the improvements soon.

Here is the first pass of the animation which I have:

PSA Update - Maze, Ending

Some more updates on the process. Here is what I have for the maze, and the ending. I have the disk, (the full one, which gets revealed) to have a an object buffer to composite the Peace One Day logo in to. So that would make a nice transition to the logo and the end tage. I also tried a couple of different camera angles and speed for the animation and included some of it in the video below. I tried how the maze might look like upside down. Thought it looks pretty cool as a camera movement which you usually dont see, I dont think it helps the viewer see the maze as a maze. Therefore I left it the way it way, nevertheless it is a very pretty way of looking at it.
